Veterans’ National Cemeteries in New York
Every veteran and his/her spouse may be buried in a National Cemetery and may be entitled to a free cemetery plot, headstone, and perpetual care. Some National Cemeteries are now closed to new interments. The Albany Rural Cemetery Soldiers’ Lot and the Cypress Hills National Cemetery are both closed to new interments.
The following National Cemeteries in New York do have available space to accommodate casketed as well as cremated remains:
- Bath National Cemetery
- Calverton National Cemetery
- Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery
Two National Cemeteries have space for cremated remains in a columbarium and can only accommodate casketed remains of subsequent eligible family members in the same gravesite of previously interred family members. They are: Long Island National Cemetery and Woodlawn National Cemetery.
National Cemeteries in New York are designated for veterans (and their families) who are residents of New York.
